We’re all here for the dogs. That’s the heart of it. Whatever brought you to dachshund rescue—whether it’s love for the breed or the drive to help those left behind—we’re stronger when we work together.
DRA exists to support rescues, reduce isolation, and create a trusted space for connection. Why should a dog be lost because one rescue can’t do it all? Maybe one group can cover vet bills and another can foster. Collaboration makes saving dogs possible.
Rescue work can be overwhelming—many directors juggle everything on their own. But we’re stronger together. When we support one another, the work gets lighter and the impact runs deeper.
There’s a lot to talk about: IVDD, double dapple genetics, puppy strangles, transport coordination, finding fosters, sharing medical insights—the list goes on. With your help the forums bring together experience and collaboration—every voice matters.
Though based in North America, DRA welcomes global participation. Dachshund rescue is a worldwide effort, and while crossing borders with dogs is tough, sharing ideas isn’t.

Our Mission
Dachshund Rescue Alliance was created to be a positive force in the rescue community—a place where dachshund rescues can come together, share ideas, and lift each other up. Our mission is to build a supportive network that empowers rescues to do what they do best: save dogs, change lives, and make a lasting difference for dachshunds in need.
Why We Started
Since stepping into the rescue world in 2019, Suzanne and Eric have been inspired by the incredible people they’ve met—compassionate, tireless folks who pour their time, energy, and hearts into helping dachshunds in need. Surrounded by generous people who show up for these sweet, long dogs with big personalities, they found their own way to help—through each surrendered pup, foster-dog snuggle, and happy tail wag.
They believe that when rescues support one another, amazing things happen. They’ve experienced this firsthand. Sharing knowledge, offering a helping hand, and cheering each other on leads to more lives saved and more happy endings. Helping dachshunds who are homeless and in need of a helping hand, is at it’s best when it’s rooted in kindness, cooperation, and our shared love for the dogs.
The Dachshund Rescue Alliance was created to celebrate that spirit—to bring people together, to foster collaboration, and create a space where working together isn’t just encouraged, it’s celebrated. Because when we unite, the dogs win.
