Eric Nikolaisen is a lifelong dachshund enthusiast and a dedicated advocate for rescue dogs. With decades of experience in the video game industry, Eric has combined his passion for technology with his commitment to animal welfare. As one of the founders of Rocky Mountain Dachshund Rescue, he has worked tirelessly to help dachshunds in need find loving forever homes.
Through Dachshund Rescue Alliance, Eric aims to create a central hub for dachshund rescues worldwide, fostering collaboration and providing valuable resources to organizations and adopters alike. When he’s not working on rescue efforts, Eric enjoys mountain biking, retro computing, and spending time with his wife, Suzanne, their rescue dogs, and their extended family of grand-dogs.

Suzanne Nikolaisen
Co-Founder, Advocate, and Creative Force
Suzanne Nikolaisen is a passionate animal advocate, artist, and one of the co-founders of the Dachshund Rescue Alliance. With a background in visual arts, illustration, and web design, Suzanne brings a unique blend of creativity and compassion to everything she does. She has worked professionally in graphic design and marketing, using those skills to amplify rescue efforts and spread awareness about the needs of vulnerable dogs.
Since 2019, Suzanne has been deeply involved in dachshund rescue work alongside her husband, Eric, fostering countless dogs and helping them find their way to loving forever homes. Her eye for detail and heartfelt storytelling are key to creating the beautiful visuals and thoughtful messaging that define the Alliance’s outreach.
In addition to her rescue work, Suzanne is the creator and host of The Whispering Gallery, a podcast that explores art, memory, and meaningful conversations. She lives in Utah with her husband Eric, their two beloved dogs, Boomer and Schatze, and enjoys spending time with family—including her granddogs Cy and Weetzie.
Suzanne believes that when we work together and share our knowledge, we can build a stronger rescue community and save more lives—one long dog at a time.
